Can thinking like a monk change our life?

summary of the book

whether in our professional or personal life we're constantly bombarded by external noise. What if we could develop a mindset that would cut out that noise and help to clarify our own intentions free from the influence of others?

In the book, jay takes the wisdom and traditions of monks and teaches us how we can apply them to live a meaningful life.

He doesn't want all of us to become monks suddenly, instead, he wants us to think like a monk

The book is divided into three parts.
  • LET GO
  • GIVE
  • GROW

LET GO

This revolves around four main themes.
  1. Finding our identity
  2. Reducing negativity
  3. Detaching from fear
  4. Learning to live intentionally

First of all, we need to address our true identity which is intrinsically wrapped up in our values. Jay points out that actually a lot of values that we think we hold are not necessarily our own but we acquire them through societal conditioning.

When we turn out the opinions expectations and obligations of the world around us we begin to hear ourselves.

The idea is that if we can filter this noise and give space to consider our own values, we begin to direct our lives towards higher values.

the final part of letting go involves questioning ourselves so that we can live more intentionally. He adds that detachment is not that you should own nothing but nothing should own you.

"Negativity is a trait, not someone's identity"
-JAY SHETTY

.PART 2 -- GIVE

  • Finding our purpose
  • Training our mind
  • Mastering our ego

Jay says, how to identify our dharma (passion and skill) and train our minds. He believes that you have to seek the love and beauty that you want in what you have now.

It's all about discovering our passion and skill that will be useful to others too.

First of all, you should read this book cos it is good and gives more practical advice related to the problems of this century.

Jay talks about how the monks teach that our ego is one of the main obstacles to growth. It is the worst demon that has two faces, one which tells we are the best while the other says we an absolute waste.

The final part of the book is most important that talks about how we can learn to look beyond just ourselves, and think about how we might act in service to other people. If we are a truly great nation, the truth cannot destroy us!

we try to live up to what we think others think of us even at the expense of our values. The previous idea of letting go and growing is ultimately about detaching ourselves from our own selfishness so that we are in a position to give back to society.

"selflessness heals the self"

In his blog, I have just touched on a sliver of the surface of the ideas, there's a lot more stuff. Click the link below if you wanna pick yourself pic a copy if you haven't got it yet.

Bird population vs cellphone towers

What is the reason for the decline of birds in the last 20-30 years!

Ornithologist agrees that there is no conclusive scientific evidence stating that cell phone towers are the reason behind the decline of birds.

source: Down to earth

This means that there are large forces at play here causing this decline in the bird population. The biggest reason for it is agriculture.

Experts believe growth in agriculture, has led to an increase in see of pesticides, which in turn has led to a decrease in the insect population.

source:datazone.birdlife.org

In this graph, you can see the reasons behind this worldwide decline in the bird population. Agriculture, invasive species are the main factor. the other obvious reason is urbanization, deforestation, climate change, pollution, etc.

let's stop blaming cell phone towers.

In June 2018 more than 200 scientists from around the world wrote a petition that a specific family of pesticides called neonicotinoids should be banned because this family is adversely affecting the biodiversity and bird population, this has been proven scientifically as well.

Why do we get aged??

18 vs  81

A JOYFUL SPRITE IS ALWAYS YOUNG.

At the biological level, aging results from the impact of the agglomeration of a wide variety of molecular and cellular damage over time.

Types of aging

Aging is governed by two factors. Intrinsic and Extrinsic

Intrinsic aging is an inevitable physiological process that results in thin, dry skin, fine wrinkles, and gradual dermal atrophy, while extrinsic aging is engendered by external environmental factors such as air pollution, smoking, poor nutrition, etc,

Health is the most valuable thing we have in life, but we tend to forget that until we lose it.

 Valid theories on aging

The genetic theory of aging

Under this theory aging primarily depends on our genome.
  • Telomere theory. telomers protect the ends of your chromosomes, as they multiply over time, telomeres shorten, the cell stops dividing and becomes Senescent cells.
  • Programmed senescence theory. Cellular senescence occurs when cells stop dividing and growing but don’t die, eventually causing aging.
  • Stem cell theory.  stem cells can turn into other cells, which helps repair tissue and organs. But the function of stem cells declines over time, predominantly contributing to aging.

Programmed theories of aging

  • Endocrine theory. According to this theory, aging is caused by changes in hormones produced by the endocrine system.
  • Immunological theory. Also called the autoimmune theory, in accordance to this immune response is designed to decline, eventually unable to differentiate self and non-self cells.
  • Free radical theory. This theory suggests that aging is due to the buildup of oxidative stress, caused by free radicals.

 Chucklesome talks

EVERYBODY wants to become an adult but nobody wants to be old.

Think of Greek mythology THTHONUS for example, Thithonus was the lover of the goddess Eos. She realized that her beloved Tithonus was destined to age and die. She begged Zeus to grant her lover immortal life so that they can spend eternity together, however she forgot to specifically ask for eternal youth. Tithonus was granted eternal life, but he kept aging unable to die.

IS there any way to cure aging??

Cells are made of billions of parts, they are the structures, machines, messages, and catalysts that make reactions happen. all this has to be replaced at regular intervals. As we grow older this process gets less effective and so parts become crumpled or removed slower. one of these parts is NAD+ a coenzyme that asks the cell to look after themselves
At age 50, we only have about half as much in our body as we do at age 20.
sadly NAD+ cannot enter the cell, so we cannot take it as a pill. But scientists noticed that other more flexible substances could enter cells and would then turn into an NAD+ inside.

Takeaway

Aging is likely caused by a combination of reasons. Some theories suggest cells have a predetermined lifespan, while others claim it’s due to genetic, evolution, or biochemical reactions.

Aging is normal, but following a healthy lifestyle may help you live longer. Habits like eating well, exercising regularly, and controlling stress & anger can reduce your risk of disease and improve your quality of life.

It matters not how long we live but how." - Philip James Bailey

Is mobile radiation harmful ??

Let's break myths about mobile radiation and stop fear-mongering

When you make a call, radiofrequency communicates with the cell phone towers. Do you remember the Electromagnetic spectrum? Radio waves have low frequency and wavelength ranging from a few meters to a few kilometers further it is non-ionizing radiation. There's no strong evidence that exposure to RF waves from cell phone towers causes any noticeable health defects.

From UV rays to Gamma rays frequency is high, the wavelength becomes so small that can break chemical bonds inside a molecule, hence we call them ionizing radiations which is harmful to humans and animals. (note: this is not released from mobile).

Is non-ionizing radiation harmful to humans?

Scientists claim that the heat produced by the non-ionizing radiation can lead to burns and body tissue damage, but don't worry heat produced from smartphones are not so intense that can cause burns. You can check your phone's SAR (specific absorption rate) value by dialing *#07#. FCC a US agency has set a radiation limit of 1.6 watts per kilogram. This limit is way less than the radiation which would result in actual heat production. If the SAR value of your phone is less than this, there is no need to worry.

Rich dad Poor dad summary

Here is a man named Robert Kiyosaki, he wasn't raised in a wealthy background. His family was like most people who work didn't have the best financial education, and often times struggled with money.
SO, THEN HOW DID HE BECOME RICH TODAY???

One day Robert asked his dad who had a Ph.D. with excellent degrees, "Dad can you tell me how to become rich? "
Unfortunately his dad didn't know the answer, but responded ...
" Use your head son, stay in school ,get good grades ,so you could find a safe and secured job ".
His real dad, is referred as a poor dad. He wasn't poor at this time, in fact he was making lots of money, BUT in the end this man's financial life takes a turn for the worse.

Robert has a friend, Mike, here Mike's father is referred to as the rich dad.

Rich dad often said, School teaches us to work hard for money, but rich make the money work for them. It's financial literacy that's more important to master the power of money if not you will end up being a slave for it.

ASSET   VS   LIABILITY

The first lesson is that you must know the difference between asset and liability and invest in assets.
The rich acquire assets, the middle class and the poor acquire liabilities thinking that it is an asset, believe it or not, a house is a liability.

The primary cause of financial struggle is simply not knowing the difference between an asset and liability.

Creating your asset must be similar to planting a tree, for a few years you must water it. Once the root is set deeper, it will provide you food and shade, no matter you water it or not.

Assets are something that puts money in your pocket, liability takes money from your pocket!!

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RICH AND POOR MENTALITY.

Fear and desire have been poor in the trap of working, earning money, and hoping fear of not having money will go away, they react emotionally instead of using their brain. To handle the fear you need to know the power of money.

Learn to use your emotions to think, not think with your emotions.

man who has fallen into emotions like desire/greed would think like
  1. I deserve a raise.
  2. I need to get another job.
  3. I want this job because it is secure.
Where else a  man with a rich mentality would think like Is there something  I am missing here?

MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS ...

Remember, the rich have both profession and Business. Focus on the asset column, not on the income statement.

WHAT IS A REAL ASSET ??
  1. The business that does not require your presence but you own them.
  2. Income-generating real estate with ready market .etc...
  • Poor and middle class buy luxuries first, rich buy luxuries last.
  • Long-term rich build asset column first, from the income, generated they buy luxuries where else the poor and middle class buy luxuries out of their own blood and sweat.

Remember, Rich doesn't play the game with the same set of rules as you, they play the game smartly. Be smart so you won't be pushed around.

Types of COVID-19 vaccines All info @ oneplace

 Types of COVID-19 vaccines!!!!

1. whole pathogen vaccine

      🌟Covaxin

2. Subunit (spike protein ) vaccine

🌟 Novavax

3. Genetic material vaccines

🌟 Moderna
🌟 Pfizer, BioNTech
🌟 covisheild
🌟J&J Janssen
🌟 S-putnik -v

The National COVID-19 vaccination drive of India is the world's largest vaccination drive and has been unprecedented in both scale and reach.

COVAXIN  💉💉

Developed in India by Bharat Biotech, in collaboration with ICMR. It is an inactivated vaccine, where the whole organism impotent to replicate and cause disease is injected .which serves as a keystone for our immune system to save a memory cell and ultimately win the war 👍

It has cracked the safe track record of ≥ 300 million does of supply. It is stable at 2-8c degree in addition to this it consists of adjuvants which increases and boost immunity to respond.

Is this Effective against variants ???
It has been recorded to neutralize the alpha variants ,B.1.1.28 gamma (p-1), B.1.1.28(p-2) zeta , B.1.617( Kappa) - India , Beta &delta varients of India and Russia .

NOVAVAX 💉💉

It is developed by the American, biotechnology NVX-COV2373. It is a protein subunit vaccine, spike proteins are introduced along with vaccine adjuvants ( proprietary , salonin based immunology) that helps in stimulating our immune system.  This has recorded 93% efficiency.
Is this Effective against variants ???
It has been recorded effective against alpha and beta variants.

MODERNA💉💉

It is an mRNA vaccine, where the super temporary nucleoside modified m- RNA  is packed with nano lipid particles and injected, which in turn encodes the viral spike glycoproteins that make the immune system accomplish its role. After an immune response, it discards all of the vaccine ingredients, just as it would discard any information that cells no longer need.

It is sold under the name brand of spikevax, American company NIAID, BARDA.

Is this Effective against variant???

reported less potent against one variant but still protective, says the company.

 PFIZER  BioNTech 💉💉

It is an intramuscular injection. In some journals, it has been reported that this vaccine is available even for twelve years old kids. of course, this is also working under the same mechanism of moderna. Reported 91.3% efficiency.

Documented hypersensitivity to polyethylene glycol.

BioNTech and Pfizer are testing a frozen-dried version that would not need an ultracold storage environment.

Is this Effective against variant???

Recorded effectiveness against variants such as alpha, beta, Delta.

COVISHEILD 💉💉

This vaccine is developed by the British -Swedish pharmaceutical company, Pune-based serum institute, Oxford AstraZeneca. It is a recombinant, replication-deficient chimpanzee adenovirus vector encoding the SARS-CoV-2 Spike (S) glycoprotein. The genetic material of the part of coronavirus is expressed which stimulates an immune response.

Is this Effective against variant???

Observed effectiveness in preventing disease severity and mortality rate against delta variant in fully vaccinated patients.

JOHNSON & JOHNSON, JANSSEN 💉

Manufactured by Janssen Pharmaceuticals Companies of Johnson & Johnson. This is also a viral vector vaccine, above 18 can get vaccinated. U.s. Food and drug administration issued emergency use Authorization.

Caution: If you have had a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) or an immediate allergic reaction, even if it was not severe, to any ingredientexternal icon in the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine (such as polysorbate), you should not get the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine.
A severe allergic reaction needs to be treated with epinephrine or EpiPen or with medical care.
An immediate allergic reaction means a reaction within 4 hours of exposure, including symptoms such as hives, swelling, or wheezing (respiratory distress)
If you aren’t able to get the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine, you may still be able to get a different type of COVID-19 vaccine.
Uniqueness
It's a single-dose vaccine.
